Abstract

In this paper, the effect of magnetic field on unsteady boundary layer flow of an electrically-conducting Newtonian fluid over a stretching porous sheet with a convective heat exchange at the surface is investigated. By taking suitable similarity variables, the governing boundary layer equations are transformed into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations and then tackled numerically using shooting quadrature. The effects of key parameters on the fluid velocity, temperature, skin friction and Nusselt number in the flow regime are depicted graphically and analyzed in detail. Comparison of numerical results is made with previously published results under the special cases, and found to be in good agreement.
