Abstract

The enhancement of thermoelectric materials is crucial for the development of efficient energy conversion technologies. Bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) is a widely studied thermoelectric material due to its high performance near room temperature. However, further improvements are necessary to increase its efficiency and applicability. This study aims to investigate the thermoelectric properties of Bi2Te3 nanocomposites by integrating nanoscale materials engineering. Our approach involves synthesizing Bi2Te3 nanocomposites via a solution-phase method, followed by characterization using X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. The thermoelectric performance is evaluated through Seebeck coefficient measurements and thermal conductivity analysis. The findings reveal that the incorporation of nanoscale features significantly enhances the power factor and reduces thermal conductivity, leading to a substantial increase in the figure of merit (ZT). This enhancement is attributed to increased phonon scattering at the grain boundaries and improved carrier mobility. The study concludes that Bi2Te3 nanocomposites hold significant promise for thermoelectric applications, bringing us closer to efficient, environmentally friendly energy solutions.
