Abstract

Biodiversity is a critical indicator of ecosystem health, and its preservation is vital for sustaining life on Earth. The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of climate change on biodiversity across various arid regions globally. By combining data from field studies and remote sensing technologies, we analyzed shifts in species composition and distribution patterns over the past two decades. Our research focused on three distinct regions: the Middle East, Central Asia, and Australia. We employed biodiversity indices and climatic data models to assess changes in species richness and abundance. Our findings indicate significant biodiversity loss in these areas, with climate change exacerbating the decline of native species. In particular, temperature rise and precipitation variability were identified as major factors driving these changes. Furthermore, invasive species have been observed to capitalize on the changing climate, adding pressure on native ecosystems. The study concludes with recommendations for mitigating strategies that include habitat restoration and policy development aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These efforts are crucial to preserving biodiversity and supporting ecosystem resilience in the face of ongoing climate change.
