Abstract

The concept of Islamic tourism is a new concept to the modern tourism world which is essential towards the tourists all over the world. It covers the Islamic monuments and cultures based on the sources of Islamic Law that supports the secular tourism. Shariah law always supports universal culture and tourism that is best for the mankind. But September 11 affects the Islamic Tourism and bears impacts on the Islamic tourism sustainability. Traditionally, Melaka is famous for her historical events and known as tourism city in Malaysia. Melaka has been listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site since 7 July 2008 which is has been facing numerous environmental problems such as ecological disruption, water borne diseases, resource depletion, food problems, inadequate facilities, lack of gardening etc.; that bears negative impacts on the tourism sustainability in this city although there are some rules and regulations in this regard. This study will examine the potentialities and constraints on the tourism related laws and policy as adopted in Malaysia including Islamic tourism based on the primary and secondary sources consisting at least 25 respondents in the different criteria such as Lecturers, students, common people, tourists, business man etc.
