Abstract
Flash converters are commonly employed in high-frequency applications due to their high sample rate. The power dissipation of a flash type ADC (FTADC) is an essential factor in such applications. The central aspect of FTADC that increases power dissipation is the comparator. FTADC includes a large number of comparators as compared to other ADCs, and the associated increment is a trade-off for many applications. To improve the performance of the ADC, a formidable operational amplifier with a gain-bandwidth product of 100MHz and an operating voltage of 0.9V is built to act as the Flash ADC\'s core. The Cadence tool has been used to analyze the performance of a 3-bit FTADC circuit designed using FinFET and ECRL adiabatic logic at 18nm. The implemented FTADC employs 63.4µ watts of electricity and has a 0.9V power supply.
