The current investigation aimed to assess water quality (physicochemical parameters) in three differing-water quality habitats at Nile Delta of Egypt, namely River Nile (Damietta Branch), Bahr Al Mallahah of Manzala Lake and an Agricultural Drain nearby Mansoura. Also, the study aimed to determine selected heavy metal elements (Zn, Fe, Mn, Cr, Cd, Ni, Pb, Co and Cu) in water, sediment as well as three teleost fish (Mugil cephalus, Oreochromis niloticus and Clarias gariepinus). Explored aquatic habitats varied greatly in physicochemical features and heavy metals burden. Comparing to the River Nile and Manzala Lake, the Agricultural Drain was dull and more turbid. Generally, the River Nile attained the lowest physicochemical gradient and heavy metals load. Unlike Manzala Lake and Agricultural Drain, the River Nile was oxygen-rich. Economic crops such as wheat and some vegetables such as onion and lattice were cultivated on the banks of the dirty drain. River Nile showed the highest water transparency and water depth. Heavy metal pollution was ordered as follows: sediment ˃ fish ˃ water. Heavy metals accumulation in fish was as follows: Manzala Lake ˃ Agricultural Drain ˃ River Nile. The level of Fe in water was ranked as follows: River Nile ˃ Manzala Lake ˃ Agricultural Drain. The amounts of Ni, Pb and Cd determined in water samples attained higher levels in the Agricultural Drain than in Manzala Lake and the River Nile. Similar trend was shown for the amounts of Fe, Cd, Pb and Zn in sediment. At the organ level, the accumulation tendency was ordered as follows: Liver ˃ Gill ˃ Gonad ˃ Muscle.
It was assumed that using of green synthesis approach is the best way for the synthesis of nanoparticles being recovered from utilization of toxic compounds and also preserving of natural capping agents for stabilization of nanoparticles. At this study, the effect of different concentrations of silver nanoparticles from Cynanchum acutum L. latex and its crude latex on molecular DNA level, protein profile and mitotic division of Vicia faba seeds was demonstrated. Results revealed that silver nanoparticles were formed and monitored at 432 nm. UV–visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were operated to characterize the synthesized silver nanoparticles (SNPs). The majority of the particles were spherical in shape. The highest value of mitotic index (MI %) was recorded for treated Vicia faba with 25 ppm silver nanoparticles. Cytotoxicity was observed via several types of chromosomal abnormalities such as micronucleus at interphase, disturbed at metaphase and anaphase, fragments, chromosome stickiness, bridges and laggards. SDS-PAGE banding pattern of proteins in treated seeds of V. faba consists of sixteen bands with ten monomorphic bands and six polymorphic bands resulted in total percentage of polymorphism 37.5%. On the molecular level, eight ISSR primers were used producing a total of 79 bands with 56 polymorphic bands and 23 common bands. The highest percentage of polymorphism (92.86 %) was recorded for primer ISSR14 having one monomorphic band and thirteen polymorphic bands divided into four unique and nine non unique bands. All treatments caused reduction in genomic template stability values; comparing with control and the increase in AgNPs concentrations showed decrease in GTS % values. These results supposed that AgNPs had significant toxic effects on V. faba plants at cytological, biochemical and molecular levels. The lowest value of GTS % using SDS-PAGE and ISSR were recorded for 100ppm silver nanoparticles treatment.
Introduction: During pregnancy, uterine leiomyomas may cause problems and treatment typically entails uterine conservation. However, for cases of leiomyomas larger than a particular size with some clinical symptoms, enucleation should be performed. A 47-year-old female visited an obstetrics and gynecology clinic with a primary complaint of irregular bleeding. We suspected an 8.4 × 6.6 cm myoma uteri and recommended immediate surgery. During the next visit, a pregnancy test was positive and the patient requested a follow-up for her myoma uteri diagnosis. Because of a breech presentation, we performed an elective cesarean section (CS) at 38 weeks and 1 day. Methods: The patient’s myoma uteri was stable throughout the pregnancy, and after delivery, we continued to follow her up as an outpatient. Two years after the CS, the myoma uterus was 6 cm in size, and 6 months later, it had increased to 10 cm. Magnetic resonance imaging supported a diagnosis of uterine leiomyosarcoma and she underwent surgery. Results: Ultimately, she was pathologically diagnosed with uterine leiomyomas, uterine leiomyomas with bizarre nuclei, and uterine leiomyosarcoma following examination of the excised tissue. Furthermore, this case demonstrated the usefulness of cyclin E and Ki-67 as biomarkers for the malignancy of uterine mesenchymal tumors. Presently, she is being monitored for tumor recurrence and metastases on a quarterly basis. Conclusions: For detection of uterine LMS at early stage, it is important that regular follow-up of uterine leiomyoma be performed after childbirth and during pregnancy.
Introduction: In the context of diabetes mellitus (DM) and the occurrence of skin wounds, herbal medicine with Morinda citrifolia linn, known by the name Noni fruit, is a fruit native to the Pacific Islands, Polynesia, Asia, and Australia that can traditionally be used for cancer treatment, diabetes, anti-inflammatory, wound healing among others. Objective: To analyze the therapeutic effect of Morinda C.L. on wound healing in diabetic Wistar rats, in addition to analyzing its potential benefits as an oral hypoglycemic in type I diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods: A total of 14 rats were used, which passed by the chemical induction of Diabetes Mellitus, being necessary to wait 3 days after administration of the inducing substance for the development of diabetes. For chemical induction of diabetes, the animals were kept on a solid fast for 24 hours. After this period, the weighing and dosing of the glycemia of each individual in the pre-induction were performed. Glucose levels were monitored using a commercial OneTouch Ultra glucometer. The joint analysis of the effects of epithelialization time and the control group of the numerical variable (wound area) was performed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Tukey\'s post-test. The histological evaluation variables were analyzed using the Mann Whitney non-parametric test, with p <0.05 (CI95%). Results: Noni has a hypoglycemic action in animals with type I diabetes. There was a statistical difference in the mean of blood glucose values (p <0.001). Also, Noni can accelerate the wound healing process in diabetic animals despite having a hypoglycemic action. The wound area of animals using Noni was statistically greater than the area of wounds of animals in the control group, p <0.001. The animals in the Noni group (considering all subgroups) had a lower liquid intake (34 mL/day) than the animals in the control group (72 mL/day) (p = 0.002). The animals in the Noni group (considering all subgroups) had a higher average weight (314 mg) than the control group (210 mg, p = 0.004). Conclusion: There was faster healing of wounds in diabetic animals when compared to controls, as well as the Noni group showed a hypoglycemic action.
Objective: To describe a patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) treated with nutraceuticals who had a better quality of life and improved muscle strength. Case report: A 65-year-old male patient with a past medical history of gout was diagnoses with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 2016. He received intravenous immunoglobulin and prednisone, but no improvement was observed. In 2018, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, submitted to a bone marrow transplant, and initiated riluzole. After 2 months, he came to our private clinic; he could not walk anymore and used outpatient nasal ventilator equipment. Beck anxiety inventory (BAI) was 20 [normal range (nr): < 8], Beck depression inventory (BDI) was 12 (nr: < 10), Bristol stool form scale (BSTS) was 5 (nr: 3-4), and there were 7 symptoms of dysbiosis. The analogic visual scale (Lickert scale) for well-being was 5.0. We suspended the colchicine, added vitamin D3, creatine, vitamin C, N-acetyl cysteine, 5-hydroxytryptamine, B1, and B6 vitamins. Dysbiosis was also treated. After 2 months, he returned feeling much better, BAI and BDI reduced BDI to 11, and BSFS normalized. Following this evaluation, a nutraceutical prescription was added: methylfolate, zinc, magnesium, green tea extract, Ginkgo biloba, lipoic acid, pyrroloquinoline quinone, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, and resveratrol. After 7 months, he was feeling very well; BAI and BDI were normal, he gained weight. He felt a marked improvement in his muscle strength, and he gained again the capacity of eating alone, his quality of life improved, and AVS well-being was 8.0. Conclusion: This case illustrates an interesting case of a patient with ALS treated with nutraceuticals and improved his quality of life and muscle strength. It may be an alternative therapeutic option for these patients.

There are no mass media texts, messages, cues and portrayals which are free from cultural biases, objective and advance no relation to power and domination. More often media contents; whether news, entertainment or commercial exposures, contain prejudices of class, gender, race or misrepresentation and social segmentation. Entertainment programmes; however, are relatively heavily saturated with cultural biases and prejudices, of which target audience is predominantly the youth. These media contents influence the political thoughts, shape or reshape the cultural traits, pose or propose idols and icons, affect the social order, and alter the relationship between social institutions. There is an iota of recent research on mass media nexus with culture which advocates the immense power of media to create myths, renew, amplify and extend the existing predispositions to constitute a dominant culture (Curran et al., 1982). \nThis paper mainly aims at exploring the different facets of media effects on culture. How mass media and culture are linked with each other what different schools of thought comment on these effects and what are the effects of technological developments on mass media and culture relationship? These and some other significant questions shall be addressed in the paper.
In the progress of any country, a Chemical Industry has a great importance. At the present time a country cannot be prospered and progressed without the support of Chemical Industrial Development. Chemical Industrial revolution has updated the fortune of several western countries. This work specifies a set of software tools for the site or chemical laboratory operator to manage and control the various chemical processes readings and the lab environment status like temperature, air pressure, sunlight etc. The common problems of such chemical industrial laboratories are the management issues like fault, manpower, configuration and performance. The proposed system may helpful to minimize the fast intensifying equipments’ cost and complexities by offering improved set of simple GUI software tools to the labs manager or supporting workers to rapidly resolve or identify the chemical processing lab problems. Since it is a significant requirement for the chemical lab operator and personnel resources management to control and manage the chemical industrial plant from a central locality. So, it can also be used in critical industrial units where it is very difficult to manually control the plant or machinery. We hope this work will be found useful by both chemical engineers and researchers, and will be used to design strategies for chemical industrial plant management system based on the presented strategies, or at least as a reference.
